Update - 'Is this for real?'
From the Star.
Thank God the child was found...and yes, she was abducted (according to the news). Malaysia's version (not full version yet), NURIN alert works.
Missing girl Recka found
By BERNARD SEE
PENANG: Recka, the 10-year-old schoolgirl who went missing after going to a VCD shop in Little India on Monday, has been found.
The Year Four pupil was apparently dropped off outside a mosque in Lebuh Chulia by a bus driver, who saw her standing by the roadside in Bandar Baru Air Itam on Thursday.
According to her father Ahmad Omar, 49, his friend had spotted his daughter at 9pm while having dinner at a nasi kandar stall near the mosque.
“My friend immediately sent her to my home located barely 200m away. She cried when she saw my wife and me.
“She looks all right except for a minor bruise on her face. She told me that a woman had taken her to a flat in Bandar Baru Air Itam after abducting her,” he said.
Recka told her father she was at a VCD shop when the woman, who was not known to her, enticed her with an ice cream and took her away.
Ahmad said her daughter's abductor panicked when she saw pictures of the girl featured on the evening news and in major newspapers.
“She was bathed before being abandoned by the roadside in Bandar Baru Air Itam. Recka told me that a bus driver spotted her and gave her a ride to the mosque at no charge.
“The man left after dropping her off. I was shocked when my friend turned up at my house with my missing daughter.
“He then accompanied me to the central police station. My prayers have been answered as God has delivered my daughter back to me safely,” he said.
Recka's mother Salma Sellamah Abdullah, 41, was too happy for words. She cried tears of joy when she was approached by reporters at the Patani Road police station.
State police chief Deputy Comm Datuk Koh Hong Sun told a press conference that the girl was sent to the Penang Hospital for a check-up after she was briefly interviewed.
“We will interview her again after she has been given a clean bill of health. She will be able to shed more light on the abduction and hopefully, the identity of her abductor," he said.
