Smart girl (and lucky too)....

From Star.

Worker who tried to flee with girl held

MALACCA: Police have detained a 21-year-old construction worker from Myanmar who tried to run away with a 13-year-old girl in Penang.

The man was said to have tried to coax the girl into following him while she was on her way to attend a Quran class last Thursday.

Melaka Tengah OCPD ASP Johari Yahya said police received a call at noon yesterday that the man was seen around the Melaka Sentral bus station.

A team led by C/Insp V. Gunasegaran went to the station and arrested the man.

ASP Johari said the man did not resist arrest as he was taken by surprise.

He said the man wanted to go to Johor after staying in Malacca for two days. A bus ticket to Mersing was found on him.

The girl’s father had lodged a report after he found her returning home several hours late.

The girl was said to have outsmarted the man by telling him she needed to go back to collect her identification papers.

The man, who did not suspect anything, waited for her to return at the Butterworth bus terminal but she went to her sister's shop and later returned home.

wing,
To my understanding, what it was reported earlier was she follow the man to Johor. But anyhow, glad she is safe and returned to her family.

Note: KJ Choi won the Sony Open in Hawaai...

NIghtwing, hi there.
I am glad that the girl was very initiative. She knows what to do to overcome such situation. I guess, that is what should be thought to all the children. Being 13 is an advantage as she, I guess, can already smell any bad intentions. But little children are just innocent; they cannot detect sech intention, especially when the culprit being nice to him/her.
You see, this kind of crime is getting worse day by day. More measures should be put into practice.

'DON'T TALK TO STRANGERS'....cannot be stressed enough.
But then, there were cases whereby the victims were apparently bundled straight into the car.

Helo Akmal,

Ya, agree with you. More should be done to curb this problem. I think the police should have the statistics on usually who are involve with this kind of crime.

Helo Nyonya,

I think children nowadays all know not to talk to stangers (but no harm in reminding them again and again)...like u mentioned, some is just taken by force.
