Oh come on...what were they thinking?

How come they be so cold hearted to make a documentary about this tragedy...and further more, the case is still on going. Now the defence lawyer may use this as an excuse..

Penangites say no to DVD on Ying Ying’s murder

By BERNARD SEE

PENANG: A Hong Kong documentary about the murder of Shearwel Ooi Ying Ying has made its way here in DVD form but many retailers are refusing to sell it out of respect for the family.

A retailer at a shopping complex in Burmah Road said the 46-minute DVD was on sale for about a week before he decided to stop selling it.

“Sales were brisk but the more I thought of it, I felt very guilty. I understand what the father must be going through as I also have a daughter of that age.”

Attempts by The Star to purchase a DVD copy of the programme entitled Kwai Tan (Strange Talk) from outlets at 1-Stop Midlands and Prangin Mall yesterday proved unsuccessful.

But after much persuasion, a shop in Prangin Mall sold the DVD for RM5.

The production crew had filmed a séance between Ying Ying and her father, Eng Chew, 29, at the Leng Hong Keung temple near Perak Road on Oct 11.

During the filming, one of the crew members suddenly collapsed and started to murmur “very cold” and “very scared” in Hokkien.

On July 8, some of Ying Ying’s charred remains and bone fragments were found by police near a tombstone at a Chinese cemetery in Paya Terubong.

On July 20, her mother Jess Teh, 28, was charged with lodging a false missing person report while her boyfriend Ong Chee Leong was charged with murdering Ying Ying on July 5. Both cases are pending trial.

Hi Cat,

Exactly...this people no respect at all.

Its not like the Western style, they do reanactment and with family's consent.

The vendor still has a heart. But how did the production people managed to do the filming?

Helo Nyonya,

Not sure how they did it...

but i think during that time of the case, maybe some reporters flimed where the family were...and from there..copy and paste and poof...a 'documentary' was produced.

That is what i think.

Hi Sweetiepie,

It is indeed a sad story. Sad for the young child.

I am sure not many ppl will understand what happend to that family.

But those buggers should not have made the documentary...cause case is still pending.
